The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the state government over the paramedical staff shortage in the Rohru Civil Hospital. The court sought a response from the state government on the matter and listed it for further hearing on May 23.
Paramedical Staff Shortage
The notice was issued after the court took suo motu cognisance of a news report that highlighted the shortage of paramedical staff in the hospital. The report said that about 400 to 500 people visit the hospital every day, but due to the Paramedical Staff Shortage patients have to wait for long periods to see a doctor.

The report also said that the hospital is facing a shortage of nurses and pharmacists. Out of the 31 posts of nurses in the hospital, 17 are vacant. Similarly, out of the nine posts of pharmacists, only three are occupied.

The Tribune report said that the shortage of staff is putting a lot of pressure on the paramedical staff who are already working under difficult conditions. The report also said that the shortage of staff is affecting the quality of healthcare being provided to patients.
The court has asked the state government to file a reply on the matter by May 23.
